Mercer Island is named after the pioneer Thomas Mercer. The island community rests within Lake Washington just across the bridge from Seattle and it is a one-of-a-kind place as either a place to live or to have a weekend getaway. On the northeast end of Mercer Island, you will find the Luther Burbank Park, where you don’t have to walk a lot to find an amazing view of Lake Washington. Amenities include swimming, boating, and fishing. In order to protect the local wildlife, most of the park has been left undeveloped.
